Project feature: Mineral Alchemy
21.08.25Mineral Alchemy, Curated by Homeroom Studio, the furniture selections for this beautiful Toorak residence were designed to echo the home’s refined material palette and calm architectural language — a project architecturally designed by Paul Conrad Architects.
We were honoured to collaborate with Romy Dankner and her team, on custom pieces that celebrate natural materiality and sculptural form.
The penthouse features our Terra Plinth in the hallway, Onda Side Table in Titanium Travertine, Bespoke Dolce Bedsides in all bedrooms, and a grande Custom Dining Table.
We sat down with Romy to learn more about her process and the inspiration behind the project in a quick Q&A.
We loved collaborating with you on the incredible Mineral Alchemy residence. Why did you decide to create custom furniture pieces for this project?
Given the unique nature of Mineral Alchemy - a penthouse apartment with sweeping views across the city skyline and out to the Dandenong Ranges - we knew from the outset that custom furniture would be integral. The space demanded pieces that could hold their own within the expansive architecture and elevated surrounds. Collaborating with Just Adele allowed us to design a dining table that responded directly to the material palette, scale, and sculptural quality of the home. It wasn’t just about furniture - it was about creating something that truly belonged to the space.
Could you speak to the inspiration behind your choice of materials? OR What is your favourite material combination from this project?
The pairing of silver travertine and solid oak was a standout for us. The silver travertine offered a beautifully grounded, almost monolithic quality - its natural variation echoing the tonal shifts of the city and distant ranges. The oak added warmth and tactility, grounding the piece with a natural softness. Together, they struck the perfect balance between raw and refined - much like the home itself.
How do you balance your design vision with the personality of the home and its owners?
We always aim to design with emotional resonance - that means listening closely to our clients and understanding what they’re drawn to, both visually and experientially. In this case, the owners were passionate about natural materials and strong, sculptural forms. The penthouse itself is bold and serene, so it was important that every piece echoed that same duality. Our collaboration with Just Adele gave us the opportunity to channel that shared vision into a singular, statement-making piece that still felt deeply personal.
What is your favourite Just Adele piece on the Mineral Alchemy project?
The bespoke dining table is a clear favourite. Positioned against the backdrop of the panoramic views, it feels architectural and grounded - like it was always meant to be there. The leg design, bold and sculptural, becomes a focal point from every angle, while the tactile finishes invite daily use. It anchors the entire living space with a quiet strength and sophistication.
