This light-filled family home in Melbourne's east nutured a love of marble for Adele Cotruzzola, which has channelled into a thriving bespoke furniture business.

Inspired by Milanese architecture, and the Brera district from which it takes its name, the collection ignites a revival of traditional perspectives, executed with a contemporary twist and fuelled by a focus on sustainability.

The stone pieces feel almost symptomatic of 2020 and the sensibilities that many now further appreciate this side of it – they’re sustainable, locally-made and a stable choice (both minerally and stylistically) in an overcrowded interior space.

Interior design, like fashion, comes and goes in cycles. While it might be on a slightly bigger scale, It sofas, lights and even mirrors really are a thing. We’re seeing it happen in front of our eyes, right now.

Interior designers have realised their love of the more bold and stunning cousins of white marble. Colourful marble, like viola, the beautiful deep red and purple veiny marble, deep sea green marble, black, beige and grey marble, have usurped their plainer cousin.
